Dr T’s snake repellent granules are the number one best selling snake granules on the market, they claim 90% success rate at repelling snakes.
Before spreading the granules, have a general clear up around the problem area. This means tidying up woodpiles, and if possible have it elevated off the ground on stilts. Try and keep long grass cut back and tidy, and weed the area and remove unwanted foliage. Remove leaf piles, and any stockpiles of old unwanted materials. Once you have done this liberally apply the granules as per the instructions, and re-apply at the recommended intervals. If you follow this advice you will reduce the chances of a snake intrusion massively.

The ingredients used to formulate Dr T’s snake repelling granules are balanced to cause disruption to a snakes Jacobson’s Organ. This does not cause any harm to the snake but it does force the snake to avoid the area as without the use of this organ a snake is effectively blind to its environment.

Tips for Dr. T’s Snake Repelling Granules

Although environmentally friendly and approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency we would always recommend wearing gloves when handling snake granules. Once your hands are protected liberally spread the snake granules around the property perimeter.

If one side of you perimeter is more likely to be the source of your snake problem, increase the concentration of pellets to reduce the opportunity for the snake to gain access. Also pay attention to the instructions in order to avoid inadvertently trapping snakes IN your property!

The instructions recommend granule bands of 5 inches wide to repel garter snakes, and around 12 inches wide to repel rattlers. We would recommend that a minimum of 12 inches is spread to ensure the optimum chance of repelling the snakes.

As with all snake granules, the smell will subside after a while, depending on the weather conditions. We would recommend re-applying a fresh amount of granules when you notice the smell fading away, or at least every 3 months.

These granules are effective at keeping snakes away from pools, wood piles, sheds and houses.

Dr. T’s Snake Repelling Granules come with some credits that other snake granules cannot, ie EPA accreditation and a 90% success rate claim. Although we have not found any academic tests to prove this claim, there are plenty of anecdotal success stories from satisfied customers, and we have included some of these below.

The downside with granules is that it has to be refreshed once in a while, however if you really want to keep snakes off your property then this is a small price to pay.

I ordered this product because my house backs up to a huge empty field and this year everytime I walked out back there was a different snake. I was scared to open the door. I followed directions and I haven’t seen a snake since

This seems to repel the garter snakes that live on my sunny patio, I haven’t seen any snakes since sprinkling the product.
happyhomeowner from HomeDepot
I have used this product every year, once a year for the last 3 years and I have yet to see a snake in the yard. Previously, I had at least 2 or more snakes every season. … it is well worth it and for the peace of mind you can’t beat it! Love this stuff!! you just put it out around the perimeter and the snakes won’t cross it. Since I have rattlers out here it’s good to know they won’t be hanging around!! Highly recommend it!
mhappy from HomeDepot

  1. Results look great! I have a lizard problem, would this work for garden lizards?

  2. Good question Sal, to be honest for lizards I think you would be better looking at a repellent specifically designed for lizards though, there are some on Amazon.

  3. I have a 1950 house with a crawl space that spans the whole under belly of the house; how do I keep from trapping snakes under the house? I have dogs so I have to be careful..
